History of Pullcar-race

People started with pullcar-races in Greece in about 780 BC. In that year much horses died by a very infectious disease. Some of the rich people didn’t want to stop with races so they started to use slaves to pull the cars. This kind of races started to get more populair and the pullers weren’t only slaves anymore. The riders used spears to push others out of the car but it happened quite often that they kill each other.
But about 700 BC was it a sport only for the poor people and if you played it, some people even thought that you were crazy. Pretty fast after that, no one played it anymore.
The first time we see it again is during the Roman period but it isn’t as popular as it was when it just started. But they changed something. They made a rule that says that it’s forbidden to use a spear and that it’s forbidden to kill.
In the early Middle Ages it get more and more popular. But when the jousts and the tournaments came up, pullcar-race became slowly forgotten.
